The traffic opportunities created by the phenomenon that is social media are incredible – with Facebook & Twitter, two of the most important sites. Its pretty obvious that people love Social media, it gives us instant & interactive communication with the whole world. But how do you take advantage of its power and use it to drive traffic to your website?
Whilst there are a number of different opinions on this matter I like to use a strategy I call “Magnet Marketing”. Rather than asking everyone to be your friend and then sending out sales pitches to them all, I like to think that most ventures that I partake in, are important enough that people will want to take an interest in what I’m doing, especially if I give them great information for free.
Magnet Marketing is effectively positioning yourself as a qualified expert in your chosen field, and letting the customers that are interested find you. Now you obviously need to be actively using the social media sites and most importantly giving these people a reason to want to find you. The great thing about this system is that when people find you themselves they are much more likely to trust you and in the end, buy from you.
This form of marketing definitely takes a bit more work than simpley getting a computer to auto add friends on facebook and then spamming them with your ‘special offers’. It also assumes that you are somewhat of an expert in your field. So if you are promoting something just to make a dollar on the side then this technique might not be too practical but you can definitely borrow aspects from it. Great value is the key, here is a little quote that sums it up perfectly.
